I’ve had some free time lately to work on a couple of personal projects that I have been wanting to do for quite a while now. One of them is to start a small online store selling short-run prints and stock photo sets. I’m still researching information on types of prints, paper, inks etc., but in the meantime this is a new illustration that I am currently working on and possibly turning into a 12 x18 print.
I’ve been working on a new typeface based off the classic Bauhaus font. This type is made up of solid colors and lots of lines and will be available as a free download. The font will be a handset type (.eps) allowing anyone to easily tweak the color and shapes.
This past Memorial Weekend I got a chance to get out of the city for a little bit and head upstate to the Cold Springs to do some hiking. Day trips out of NYC are always a good change of scenery. The trip was really easy and convenient just take the Metro North from Grand Central Station, I believe it’s track 35. The ride is about an hour and you exit at the Cold Springs stop. There are a couple different trails you can take, the one we did was the ‘White’ trail and that lasted about 4 hours. I would recommended doing some lite research on what to bring as far as water and food. We had 2L of water each which held us over for the entire hike but again, for other trails you may need to bring more. I definitely recommend this trip if you feel the need to escape the sometime chaotic pace of New York.
