Last weekend I went to check out the Voice Tunnel Installation by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. The project is part of New York’s Summer Streets which closes off sections of the streets in various locations throughout the city.

The interactive light and sound installation runs under the Park Avenue Tunnel, which is usually only for cars but opened to pedestrians for the first time. That itself is almost worth going to check out. There’s a speaker in the center of the bridge that users talk into. The louder the voice the more intense the lights will trickle through the tunnel.

The Voice Tunnel only runs 3 total weekends, so if you missed it last week you have 2 more chances. I would recommend getting there a little early, they only allow people to enter from 7am to 1pm and the line can get pretty long.
